Senior Corporate Relations Manager Job at Diageo Uganda - Kampala

Diageo, a global leader in beverage alcohol, is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Manager for Corporate Relations to join our team in Kampala, Uganda. This is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and protecting Diageo's reputation and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders across Uganda.

About the Role:

As the Senior Manager, Corporate Relations, you will be at the forefront of developing and implementing comprehensive corporate relations strategies. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing Diageo's brand image, managing media engagements, and driving our public affairs initiatives within the Ugandan market. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a world-class FMCG company and make a significant impact on our business and community engagements in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute effective corporate relations and communications strategies aligned with Diageo's business goals in Uganda.
• Manage all media relations, including acting as the primary company spokesperson, organising press conferences, and building strong relationships with Ugandan journalists and media houses.
• Lead corporate communications, including drafting press releases, speeches, presentations, and other materials for internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate high-profile corporate events, stakeholder engagements, and community initiatives.
• Monitor media coverage, analyse public perception, and provide strategic insights to senior management.
• Support public affairs and regulatory engagement, ensuring Diageo maintains positive relationships with government bodies and complies with local regulations.
• Develop and implement crisis communication plans to protect the company's reputation.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of proven experience in corporate communications, public relations, or media relations, preferably within Uganda.
• Established and strong network with Ugandan media, government officials, and key business stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated experience in crisis communications management.
• In-depth knowledge of Uganda's regulatory, media, and business environment.
• Strategic thinker with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
