Equity Bank Uganda, a leading financial institution committed to transforming lives and giving dignity, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Branch Manager to lead our operations in Mbarara. This is a senior leadership role where you will be responsible for driving business growth, ensuring operational excellence, and delivering exceptional customer service in the Western region of Uganda.
About the Role
As the Branch Manager in Mbarara, you will be the face of Equity Bank in the community, responsible for the overall performance and strategic direction of the branch. You will lead a dedicated team to achieve financial targets, expand our customer base, and uphold our reputation for excellence. This role is perfect for a seasoned banking professional with a proven track record in leadership and business development, who understands the unique dynamics of the Western Uganda market.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide overall leadership and management for the daily operations of the Mbarara branch.
- Develop and execute strategic business plans to drive growth in customer acquisition, deposits, and loans.
- Lead, mentor, and manage branch staff to ensure high performance and professional development.
- Ensure strict compliance with all Bank of Uganda regulations, internal policies, and operational procedures.
- Monitor and analyse branch financial performance against set targets and budgets.
- Maintain the highest standards of customer service and personally handle customer escalations.
- Build and strengthen the bank's presence by actively engaging with the local Mbarara business community.
- Oversee credit management and ensure the quality of the branch's loan portfolio.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Commerce, or a related field from a recognised university.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in the banking sector in Uganda.
- At least 3 years of proven experience in a branch management or similar leadership role.
- Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent knowledge of retail and commercial banking products and services.
- A demonstrable track record in business development and revenue growth.
- Good understanding of the local market dynamics in Western Uganda and Mbarara specifically.
- Exceptional customer relationship management skills.
