Associate Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Officer Job at UNHCR Uganda - Kampala
Job Description
UNHCR Uganda is seeking a dedicated and proactive Associate Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Officer to join our team in Kampala. This role is central to our mission of enhancing refugee self-reliance and promoting sustainable economic inclusion in Uganda, in line with the Global Compact on Refugees and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
In this key position, you will support the implementation of impactful livelihood and economic inclusion programmes. You will work with multi-functional teams, government agencies, NGOs, development partners, and the private sector to create opportunities for refugees and host communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the operationalisation of UNHCR's strategic vision for livelihoods and economic inclusion in Uganda.
- Advocate for refugees' right to work and improve their access to economic opportunities and services.
- Build and strengthen partnerships with private sector companies, development actors, and government institutions.
- Enhance livelihoods programming using evidence-based and market-driven approaches.
- Support multi-stakeholder coordination and resource mobilisation efforts.
- Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of economic inclusion activities.
- Build the capacity of UNHCR staff and partners on market-based approaches.
- Support the implementation of financial inclusion and entrepreneurship initiatives for forcibly displaced persons.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field. A Master's degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in livelihoods, economic inclusion, private sector development, or refugee programming.
- Proven experience in partnership development and stakeholder engagement within the Ugandan context.
- Strong understanding of Uganda's refugee response and the national development landscape.
- Excellent coordination, advocacy, and strategic planning skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team and with diverse partners.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages spoken in Uganda is an asset.
