Job Description
UNHCR Uganda is seeking a dedicated Associate Field Officer to join our team in Kampala. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to humanitarian work and support refugees and persons of concern in Uganda.
About the Role:
The Associate Field Officer will assist in monitoring and implementing UNHCR's programmes in Uganda. You will work closely with field offices, local authorities, NGOs, and other UN agencies to ensure effective delivery of assistance and protection services. This position plays a crucial role in Uganda's humanitarian response, supporting one of the largest refugee populations in Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in monitoring UNHCR programme implementation including delivery of assistance items and infrastructure projects
• Support coordination with other UN agencies, NGOs, and local authorities in Uganda
• Help prepare reports and documentation on programme activities and progress
• Maintain daily contact with field office staff and functional units at the Country Office
• Contribute to achieving UNHCR's strategic objectives for refugee protection in Uganda
• Analyse the political and humanitarian context in the region to inform programme decisions
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies or related field
• Understanding of Uganda's humanitarian context and refugee situation
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment under pressure
• Previous experience in humanitarian or development work is an advantage
• Knowledge of UN financial and budgetary regulations is desirable
