The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is seeking a dedicated and proactive Associate Field Officer to join our team in Adjumani, Uganda. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to humanitarian work and support refugee protection in one of Uganda's key settlement districts.
About the Role
As an Associate Field Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting field operations and ensuring effective implementation of UNHCR's programmes in Adjumani. You will work under the supervision of senior field staff and collaborate with various teams to deliver essential services to refugees and host communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support field office operations and programme implementation in Adjumani District
- Maintain daily coordination with field staff and functional units at Country/Regional Office
- Liaise with local authorities, military, NGOs, and UN agencies on matters of common interest
- Assist in monitoring and reporting on field activities and protection concerns
- Support the implementation of UNHCR's Operations Plans and protection objectives
- Ensure compliance with UNHCR Manual and UN financial/budgetary regulations
- Contribute to community engagement and stakeholder coordination efforts
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Law, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience in humanitarian work
- Experience working in refugee settings or with displaced populations
- Strong understanding of protection principles and humanitarian coordination
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments
- Knowledge of the local context in Adjumani or West Nile region is an advantage
- Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages spoken in Adjumani is beneficial
