Job Description
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is seeking a dedicated and organised Administrative Assistant to join its team in Mbarara, Uganda. Key Responsibilities
As an Administrative Assistant with UNHCR in Mbarara, you will provide essential support to ensure the smooth operation of the office. Your duties will include:
- Managing office correspondence, filing systems, and document control.
- Coordinating schedules, meetings, and appointments for the team.
- Assisting with procurement processes and maintaining office inventory.
- Making travel arrangements and processing travel authorisations.
- Providing logistical support for workshops, meetings, and events.
- Serving as the primary contact for internal and external administrative enquiries.
- Utilising MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and data management.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful in this administrative role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Completion of secondary education (UACE) is mandatory.
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Administration, Secretarial Studies, Office Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in administration or clerical duties.
- Previous experience with an international NGO, UN agency, or similar organisation is a strong advantage.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent organisational skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
