Available Positions & Key Responsibilities
Able Seaman β Deck:
- Stand watch as a lookout or helmsman.
- Perform deck maintenance, cleaning, and painting.
- Handle mooring lines during docking/undocking.
- Operate deck machinery and cargo handling equipment.
- Assist with navigation and safety procedures.
Able Seaman β Engine:
- Assist engineering officers with machinery maintenance.
- Monitor engine room equipment and report issues.
- Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of engine spaces.
- Handle fuel, oil, and bilge water operations.
- Support repairs under supervision.
Ordinary Sailor:
- Learn all aspects of shipboard operations.
- Support deck and engine crews with general duties.
- Participate in cleaning, painting, and upkeep of vessel.
- Follow safety and security protocols diligently.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Valid Ugandan Seafarer's Discharge Book and relevant certificates.
- For Able Seaman: Minimum of 1-2 years of proven experience on inland or lake vessels.
- For Ordinary Sailor: Willingness to learn; prior experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Certificate from a recognised maritime training institution is highly preferred.
- Good physical health and ability to pass a medical examination.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to follow instructions.
- For Engine role: Basic mechanical aptitude.
