Yalelo Uganda, a leading aquaculture and fish farming company, is seeking a dedicated Water Quality Technician to join our hatchery operations in Butembe-Buikwe. About the Role

As a Water Quality Technician in our hatchery category, you will play a critical role in maintaining optimal water conditions for fish health and production. You will be responsible for monitoring, testing, and managing water quality parameters to ensure the highest standards in our aquaculture operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily water quality testing and analysis for parameters including pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature, ammonia, and nitrite levels
• Monitor and maintain water filtration and treatment systems in the hatchery
• Record and analyse water quality data, preparing regular reports for management
• Implement water quality management protocols and recommend corrective actions
• Collaborate with hatchery team to ensure optimal environmental conditions for fish health
• Maintain water quality testing equipment and ensure proper calibration
• Follow safety procedures and bio-security protocols in all operations

Requirements and Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field
• Minimum 1-2 years experience in water quality management, preferably in aquaculture or fisheries
• Practical knowledge of water testing procedures and equipment
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Willingness to work in Butembe-Buikwe location
• Understanding of Ugandan aquaculture standards and practices
