Harvest Supervisor Job in Butembe-Buikwe, Uganda | Yalelo Uganda

Yalelo Uganda, a leader in aquaculture and sustainable fish farming, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Harvest Supervisor to join our Lake Operations team in Butembe-Buikwe. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in Uganda's growing aquaculture sector, ensuring the efficient and high-quality harvest of our premium tilapia.

In this full-time position, you will be responsible for overseeing all harvest activities on Lake Victoria. You will lead a team, ensuring operations meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and productivity. Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily harvest operations on the lake.
• Lead, train, and motivate a team of harvest technicians and casual labourers.
• Ensure all harvest activities comply with strict quality control, food safety, and biosecurity protocols.
• Monitor fish health and welfare during the harvest process.
• Maintain accurate records of harvest yields, weights, and other operational data.
• Coordinate logistics with transport and processing teams to ensure timely delivery.
• Enforce and promote a strong culture of health, safety, and environmental compliance on the water.
• Operate and perform basic maintenance on harvest-related equipment.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Minimum of a Diploma in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Agriculture, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in a supervisory role within aquaculture, fisheries, or a similar agro-processing environment.
• Proven experience leading teams in a demanding operational setting.
• Strong understanding of fish biology, harvest techniques, and post-harvest handling.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Good physical fitness and ability to work on the water in various weather conditions.
• Valid boat riding license or willingness to obtain one is a strong advantage.
