Vanilla Cultivation Agronomist Job in Uganda - ISP Careers

ISP is seeking a skilled and experienced Agronomist to specialise in Vanilla Cultivation in Uganda. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement advanced vanilla cultivation protocols and best practices for Ugandan growing conditions.
- Provide technical guidance and training to farmers and field staff on vanilla planting, pollination, harvesting, and post-harvest handling.
- Conduct field research and trials to improve vanilla yield, quality, and disease resistance.
- Monitor crop health, identify pests and diseases, and recommend integrated pest management (IPM) solutions.
- Collaborate with the supply chain team to ensure quality standards from farm to market.
- Prepare detailed agronomic reports and maintain accurate records of all field activities.

Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field. A Master's degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in vanilla cultivation or a similar high-value perennial crop.
- In-depth knowledge of vanilla vine management, pollination techniques, and curing processes.
- Strong understanding of Ugandan soil types, climate, and sustainable agricultural practices.
- Excellent communication and training skills, with fluency in English and at least one local language.
- Proficiency with basic agricultural data collection and analysis tools.
- Must be willing to travel extensively to vanilla-growing regions across Uganda.
