ISP is seeking a skilled and experienced Agronomist to specialise in vanilla cultivation in Uganda. Key Responsibilities & Duties



  • Provide expert technical guidance and support to vanilla farmers across project sites.

  • Develop and implement best-practice protocols for vanilla cultivation, including vine management, pollination, and post-harvest handling.

  • Conduct field assessments, soil analysis, and diagnose pest and disease issues affecting vanilla crops.

  • Design and deliver training programmes for farmers on sustainable and climate-smart vanilla farming techniques.

  • Collaborate with research institutions and partners to trial and promote improved vanilla varieties and practices.

  • Monitor crop performance, collect data, and prepare detailed reports on project outcomes and challenges.

  • Ensure all agricultural activities meet quality, sustainability, and food safety standards.

Requirements & Qualifications



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Agriculture, or a closely related field.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of practical experience in agronomy, with specific hands-on experience in vanilla cultivation highly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM), soil health, and irrigation systems.

  • Proven experience working directly with farming communities in Uganda.

  • Excellent communication, training, and report-writing skills.

  • Ability to travel frequently to rural field sites.

  • Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages (e.g., Luganda, Lusoga) is a strong advantage.
