Trade Finance Relationship Manager Job Opportunity at Tropical Bank Limited

Tropical Bank Limited, a leading commercial bank in Uganda, is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Trade Finance Relationship Manager to join our team in Kampala. This is a senior-level role where you will drive the growth of our Trade Finance portfolio, managing both funded and non-funded income across our network. Key Responsibilities & Duties:



  • Drive the growth of Trade Finance income by mobilising customers in domestic and cross-border trade.

  • Cultivate new business opportunities and develop strong relationships with existing and prospective corporate clients.

  • Monitor and manage the designated accounts portfolio to control credit risk in line with the Bank's Credit Policy and Bank of Uganda guidelines.

  • Oversee Trade Finance operations, identify training needs for the team, and provide coaching to maximise performance.

  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans to enhance the bank's competitive advantage in the marketplace.

  • Lead customer experience initiatives to build a strong base of promoters and ensure high levels of client engagement.

  • Ensure strict compliance with all credit covenants, terms, and conditions, and handle requests for excesses in liaison with the Credit Risk unit.

  • Prepare and submit periodic performance reports on loans and portfolio status to Executive Committee (ExCom).

  • Maintain an up-to-date database of Corporate and Trade Clients.

Requirements & Qualifications:



  • A Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field from a recognised institution.

  • Professional banking qualifications (e.g., ACIB) are a strong advantage.

  • Proven senior-level experience in trade finance, relationship management, or corporate banking within the Ugandan financial sector.

  • In-depth knowledge of Trade & Working Capital Solutions products, UCP 600, and Uganda's regulatory environment.

  • Strong leadership skills with experience in coaching, team development, and driving sales targets.

  • Excellent networking, negotiation, and strategic marketing abilities.

  • High integrity and a strong understanding of risk management and compliance protocols.
