Job Description
Cairo Bank Uganda is seeking an experienced Chief Compliance Officer to join our dynamic team in Kampala. This senior leadership position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the compliance framework of one of Uganda's leading financial institutions.
Job Purpose:
As Chief Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, monitoring and managing compliance risk in line with Ugandan laws, regulations and prudential standards, including internal policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement comprehensive compliance strategies and frameworks
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure bank-wide compliance with Ugandan financial regulations
• Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and audits
• Manage relationships with regulatory authorities including Bank of Uganda
• Provide compliance training and guidance to staff across all departments
• Implement and maintain anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) programmes
• Ensure adherence to data protection and privacy regulations in Uganda
• Prepare compliance reports for senior management and board committees
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration or related field
• Minimum 8 years of compliance experience in Uganda's banking sector
• Professional certification in compliance or risk management
• Thorough knowledge of Ugandan banking regulations and financial laws
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Experience working with Bank of Uganda regulations
