Diageo, a global leader in beverage alcohol, is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Manager for Public Policy & Sustainability to join our team in Kampala. This is a senior leadership role where you will shape and drive our engagement with government, communities, and stakeholders across Uganda, aligning business growth with sustainable development.

About the Role


You will be responsible for developing and implementing Diageo's public policy and sustainability agenda in Uganda. Your work will directly influence our licence to operate and our positive contribution to society. You will act as a key advisor to the business on the Ugandan political and regulatory landscape while championing our sustainability commitments.

Key Responsibilities & Duties



  • Develop and execute comprehensive public policy and sustainability strategies for Diageo in Uganda.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key government ministries, departments, agencies (MDAs), NGOs, industry associations, and community leaders.

  • Monitor, analyse, and advise on legislative and regulatory developments affecting the business.

  • Advocate for policies that support a positive business environment and sustainable growth.

  • Lead the implementation of Diageo's Society 2030: Spirit of Progress sustainability plan in Uganda, with focus areas like water stewardship, community development, and inclusion & diversity.

  • Represent Diageo at high-level meetings, forums, and public events.

  • Prepare briefs, position papers, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience Required



  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Law, Business Administration, Political Science, or a related field. A Master's degree is a strong advantage.

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in public policy, government relations, corporate affairs, or sustainability, preferably within Uganda.

  • Deep understanding of the Ugandan political, economic, and regulatory environment.

  • Proven track record of successful stakeholder engagement and advocacy.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • Strong project management and strategic thinking capabilities.
