BRAC Uganda Bank Limited is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safeguarding Manager to join our team in Kampala. This is a senior-level role responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, respectful, and compliant environment for all staff, partners, and stakeholders. You will be at the forefront of our commitment to employee welfare, occupational health, and organisational integrity.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Lead the design, review, and implementation of comprehensive safeguarding policies for staff, partners, volunteers, and service providers.
- Act as the primary contact for reporting safeguarding violations and grievances, providing survivor-centred support and ensuring confidentiality.
- Manage an online case reporting platform and oversee the timely resolution of all safeguarding concerns.
- Conduct regular safeguarding compliance and risk assessments across all bank locations in Uganda.
- Build and manage a network of Safeguarding Champions throughout the bank's operational regions.
- Develop and monitor the annual safeguarding budget and related expenditures.
- Ensure staff safety through the implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) provisions.
- Oversee staff medical insurance, Group Personal Assurance, and Group Life Assurance programmes.
- Promote staff wellness by designing and monitoring physical initiatives (sports, aerobics) and mental wellness programmes (counselling services).
- Supervise and mentor officers/interns within the Safeguarding unit.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Organisational Psychology, or Gender & Women Studies.
- Post-graduate diploma or master's degree in a related field is a strong added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in human resource management, with at least 3 years specifically in Safeguarding or Employee Relations at a supervisory level.
- Prior experience in the banking or financial sector in Uganda is preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills and a deep understanding of safeguarding principles.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and complex cases with the highest confidentiality.
- Strong facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
