Research Officer - Value Chains Job at Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development in Kampala
Job Description
The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) is seeking a dedicated and analytical Research Officer to join our team, focusing on value chain analysis and development. This is a critical role supporting Uganda's economic transformation agenda by providing research that informs policy and investment decisions in key agricultural and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on priority value chains in Uganda, such as coffee, maize, dairy, tourism, and manufacturing.
- Collect, analyse, and interpret economic data related to production, processing, marketing, and financing within specific value chains.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, policy briefs, and presentations on value chain constraints, opportunities, and competitiveness.
- Support the development and monitoring of interventions aimed at enhancing value chain efficiency and inclusivity.
- Collaborate with government agencies, private sector stakeholders, and development partners on value chain initiatives.
- Stay updated on national and regional economic policies affecting Ugandan value chains.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Statistics, Development Studies, or a related field. A Master's degree is a strong advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in economic research, value chain analysis, or a related field within the Ugandan context.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, with proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, Excel).
- Excellent report writing and communication skills in English.
- A deep understanding of Uganda's economic landscape and key development plans like the National Development Plan (NDP III).
