Research Officer, Legal and Regulatory Reforms Job Opportunity
The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development is seeking a dedicated and analytical Research Officer to join its Private Sector Development Unit (PSDU) in Kampala. This is a critical role focused on driving legal and regulatory reforms that enhance Uganda's business environment and foster private sector growth. Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on legal and regulatory frameworks affecting private sector development in Uganda.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, policy briefs, and position papers to inform government decision-making.
- Support the review and formulation of laws, regulations, and policies to improve the business climate.
- Collaborate with government agencies, private sector associations, and development partners on reform initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation and impact of specific legal and regulatory reforms.
- Organise and participate in stakeholder consultations, workshops, and validation meetings.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Law, Economics, Public Policy, Development Studies, or a related field. A Master's degree will be an added advantage.
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in policy research, legal analysis, or regulatory affairs, preferably within the public sector or a development organisation.
- Strong understanding of Uganda's legal system and private sector development challenges.
- Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to public service.
