Job Description

Sightsavers, an international non-governmental organisation (NGO) working to eliminate avoidable blindness and promote disability rights, is seeking a dedicated Project Coordinator to join their team in Uganda. This is an excellent opportunity for a development professional to contribute to meaningful projects that create lasting change in Ugandan communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee the implementation of Sightsavers' projects in Uganda, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and donor requirements.
  • Develop detailed project work plans, monitor progress, and prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholders and donors.
  • Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure efficient use of resources in compliance with organisational policies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local partners, government agencies, community-based organisations, and other stakeholders.
  • Supervise and provide technical support to project staff and partners, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.
  • Monitor and evaluate project outcomes, documenting lessons learned and best practices for future programming.
  • Ensure all project activities promote inclusion, particularly for people with disabilities, in line with Sightsavers' core values.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health, or a related field. A Master's degree is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in project coordination or management within the NGO or development sector in Uganda.
  • Strong understanding of project cycle management, including planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills in English. Knowledge of local languages is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and travel to project sites within Uganda as required.
