Job Summary
As a Dispenser at C-Care Uganda, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare delivery chain. Your primary responsibility will be to accurately prepare, document, and dispense prescribed drugs and medical supplies to both hospital units and outpatients. You will serve as a vital link between the clinical team and patients, ensuring safe medication practices and providing essential health counselling.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret and process prescriptions from medical officers.
- Prepare and dispense medications and other medical supplies with meticulous attention to detail.
- Maintain proper documentation and records of all dispensed items in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Provide clear, empathetic, and accurate counselling to patients on medication usage, dosage, and potential side effects.
- Work to improve patient understanding and adherence to prescribed treatment plans.
- Manage pharmacy inventory and participate in stock-taking exercises.
- Collaborate with other hospital departments to ensure seamless patient care.
- Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and patient confidentiality.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A recognised Diploma in Pharmacy or a related field from a reputable institution.
- Must be registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council of Uganda.
- Prior experience working as a dispenser in a hospital or clinic setting is a strong advantage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-centred approach.
- Strong organisational skills and high level of accuracy in handling medications.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications.
- Knowledge of current pharmacy practices and Ugandan drug regulations.
