Job Description

UNICEF Uganda is seeking an experienced International Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) Consultant to provide technical support and guidance for the design, implementation, and completion of the MICS survey in Uganda. This is a high-impact consultancy role working in partnership with the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) to collect critical data that informs national development policies and programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance and support to UNICEF Uganda and UBOS throughout all phases of the MICS survey
  • Support survey design, sampling, questionnaire development, and fieldwork planning
  • Oversee data collection, processing, and quality assurance procedures
  • Build capacity of national counterparts and survey teams through training and mentorship
  • Ensure adherence to international MICS protocols and standards
  • Support data analysis, report writing, and dissemination of findings
  • Facilitate coordination between UNICEF, UBOS, and other stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Advanced university degree in Statistics, Demography, Social Sciences, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in large-scale household surveys (MICS, DHS, or similar)
  • Proven experience in survey design, implementation, and data analysis in developing country contexts
  • Strong technical expertise in statistical software (SPSS, Stata, or R)
  • Excellent communication and capacity-building skills
  • Previous experience working in Uganda or East Africa is a strong advantage
  • Fluency in English (knowledge of local Ugandan languages is beneficial)
