International MICS Consultant Job in Uganda - UNICEF & UBOS Survey Specialist
Job Description
UNICEF Uganda is seeking an experienced International Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) Consultant to provide technical guidance and support for the design, implementation, and completion of the MICS survey in Uganda. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to critical national data collection that informs policies and programmes affecting children and women across Uganda.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert guidance to UNICEF Uganda and the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) on all phases of the MICS survey
- Support survey design, sampling, questionnaire adaptation, and fieldwork planning
- Oversee data collection, processing, and analysis to ensure international standards
- Build capacity of national counterparts and survey teams through training and mentorship
- Ensure quality assurance throughout the survey implementation process
- Contribute to survey report writing and dissemination of findings
- Collaborate with government partners, UN agencies, and stakeholders in Uganda
Requirements:
- Advanced university degree in Statistics, Demography, Social Sciences, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in managing large-scale household surveys (MICS, DHS, or similar)
- Strong technical expertise in survey methodology, sampling, and data analysis
- Previous experience working in Uganda or similar East African context preferred
- Excellent communication and capacity-building skills
- Fluency in English required; knowledge of local Ugandan languages is an advantage
- Ability to work effectively with government institutions like UBOS
