Equity Group Holdings, a leading financial services institution in Uganda and across East Africa, is seeking a skilled and vigilant IT Security Analyst to join our team in Kampala. This is a critical role where you will be at the forefront of protecting our digital assets and ensuring the security of our IT infrastructure against evolving cyber threats.

About the Role

As an IT Security Analyst, you will be responsible for the continuous monitoring, analysis, and defence of our organisation's network, systems, and data. You will work with cutting-edge security tools to identify vulnerabilities, respond to incidents, and implement robust security measures that safeguard our operations and customer information.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively monitor IT systems and networks for security breaches or intrusions using advanced security software.
• Install and configure security measures, including firewalls, data encryption programs, and other protective software.
• Investigate security alerts and provide incident response, including documentation and reporting.
• Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing.
• Develop and maintain IT security policies, procedures, and standards in line with industry best practices.
• Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies relevant to Uganda and the East African region.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure architecture and deployment of new systems.
• Provide security awareness training to staff members.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field from a recognised institution.
• A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in IT security, cybersecurity, or information security roles.
• Professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), CISSP, or similar are highly preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge of network security protocols, systems administration, and cloud security.
• Experience with security tools for intrusion detection, vulnerability management, and SIEM (Security Information and Event Management).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
