Information Security Manager Job at FINCA Uganda - Kampala

FINCA Uganda, a leading microfinance institution, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Information Security Manager to join our team in Kampala. This is a senior-level position where you will be responsible for protecting our digital assets, customer data, and ensuring compliance with national and international cybersecurity standards.

In this critical role, you will develop, implement, and monitor a strategic, comprehensive enterprise information security and IT risk management programme. You will work directly with business units to facilitate risk assessment and management processes, and you will be the champion for our security culture within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a robust information security strategy and framework aligned with FINCA Uganda's business goals.
• Lead the identification, assessment, and mitigation of cybersecurity risks across all IT systems and digital platforms.
• Ensure compliance with relevant Ugandan regulations (e.g., Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019) and international financial security standards.
• Manage security incidents and breaches, including investigation, containment, and communication.
• Conduct regular security awareness training for staff to foster a culture of security.
• Manage relationships with external security vendors and oversee security audits.
• Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity threats and trends relevant to the financial sector in Uganda and East Africa.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH) are a strong advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in information security, with at least 2 years in a managerial role, preferably within the banking or financial services sector in Uganda.
• In-depth knowledge of security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST), risk management methodologies, and Ugandan data protection laws.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to threat management.
