Head of Project Execution Career Opportunity

The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development of Uganda is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic professional to fill the position of Head of Project Execution. This is a senior leadership role based at our headquarters in Kampala, offering a unique opportunity to drive national development projects and contribute to Uganda's economic transformation agenda.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Lead and oversee the execution of major government projects and programmes under the Ministry's portfolio
• Develop and implement project management frameworks, methodologies and standards
• Coordinate with various government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to ensure project alignment
• Monitor project timelines, budgets and deliverables to ensure successful completion
• Manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies
• Prepare comprehensive project reports for senior management and stakeholders
• Supervise and mentor project teams and coordinate with external consultants
• Ensure compliance with government regulations and international best practices

Qualifications and Requirements

• Master's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Economics, Finance or related field
• Minimum of 8 years' experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
• Professional certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent)
• Proven experience managing large-scale development projects in Uganda or similar context
• Strong understanding of Uganda's public sector operations and development priorities
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience with donor-funded projects and international development partners
• Proficiency in project management software and tools
