Head of Finance Job at Old Mutual Uganda in Kampala

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Finance to join our leadership team in Kampala. This is a senior executive role for a qualified finance professional ready to manage the complete financial function for our Ugandan operations.

Job Description: As the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for managing the financial accounting and reporting function for Old Mutual Uganda. You will ensure financial integrity, compliance, and provide strategic insights to drive business growth. This role is individually accountable for achieving results through the efforts of a dedicated finance team.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Financial Reporting & Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in full compliance with IFRS and Ugandan regulatory requirements (URA, BOU).
• Tax & Regulatory Management: Oversee all tax compliance, including timely submission of returns, and manage relationships with the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and external auditors.
• Financial Controls & Risk: Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets. Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process, provide regular financial forecasts, and conduct detailed variance analysis for management.
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team in Kampala, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous professional development.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Provide financial insights and support to business units. Liaise effectively with senior management, regulators, and external partners.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field from a recognised institution.
• Full professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA Uganda) is mandatory.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in a senior finance role, preferably within the financial services, insurance, or banking sector in Uganda.
• In-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Ugandan financial regulations.
• Proven leadership skills with experience managing a finance team.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
• High proficiency in financial management software and the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
