Fleet Assistant Job in Gulu, Uganda - Kijani Forestry

Kijani Forestry, a leading sustainable forestry company in Uganda, is seeking a dedicated Fleet Assistant to join our operations in Gulu. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised individual with a passion for logistics and vehicle management to contribute to our mission of sustainable forestry and community development in Northern Uganda.

As a Fleet Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our vehicle fleet, supporting our forestry and transportation activities across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the daily management and scheduling of company vehicles and equipment
• Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules
• Coordinate with drivers and field staff to ensure timely vehicle availability
• Support basic vehicle inspections and report any maintenance needs or issues
• Help manage fuel procurement and inventory for the fleet
• Ensure all vehicles have necessary documentation, licenses, and insurance
• Assist in implementing and monitoring fleet safety protocols
• Support logistics for personnel and material transportation

Requirements:

• Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or equivalent; additional certification in transport/logistics is an advantage
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in fleet management, logistics, or a similar role
• Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and maintenance procedures
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
• Good communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages (Acholi/Luo) is beneficial
• Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office, spreadsheets)
• Valid driving permit (Class B) is preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
