Fireman Job in Jinja, Uganda - Kakira Sugar Limited

Kakira Sugar Limited, a leading manufacturer and household name in Uganda, is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Fireman to join our team in Jinja. This is a critical role within our operations, ensuring the protection of our people, assets, and the surrounding community.

Overall Purpose of the Job:
The Fireman will be responsible for maintaining a state of constant readiness for all firefighting and rescue operations. You will play a hands-on role in safeguarding one of Uganda's most important industrial sites.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Conduct daily checks, cleaning, and maintenance of all fire appliances and equipment to ensure they are operational and ready for immediate use.
• Participate actively in firefighting, emergency response, and rescue operations as required.
• Perform regular inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire hydrants and related fire protection systems across the estate.
• Accurately record all operational activities, equipment checks, and incidents in the official occurrence book.
• Assist in fire safety inspections and contribute to the company's overall health and safety protocols.
• Participate in regular fire drills and training exercises to maintain a high level of preparedness.

What We Are Looking For (Requirements):

• A minimum of a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent.
• Proven experience in a similar fireman, firefighter, or industrial safety role is a strong advantage.
• Valid certification in basic firefighting from a recognised institution in Uganda is highly desirable.
• Physical fitness and the ability to respond swiftly to emergencies.
• A strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and attention to detail.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
