Kakira Sugar Limited, one of Uganda's leading sugar manufacturers and a cornerstone of the Madhvani Group, is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Fireman to join our safety and emergency response team in Jinja. This is a critical role for maintaining our world-class safety standards and protecting our valuable assets, employees, and the surrounding community.

Job Purpose

The Fireman will be responsible for ensuring all firefighting equipment and systems are operational and ready for immediate use, while actively participating in emergency response operations to safeguard the Kakira Sugar estate and its people.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct daily checks, cleaning, and maintenance of all fire appliances and equipment to ensure 100% operational readiness.
• Accurately record all fire service operational activities, inspections, and incidents in the official occurrence book.
• Actively participate in firefighting, rescue operations, and emergency response drills on the estate.
• Perform regular testing and inspection of fire hydrants, hose reels, and other fixed fire protection systems.
• Assist in conducting fire safety awareness sessions for staff within the company.
• Maintain the fire station and associated equipment in a clean, orderly, and serviceable condition.
• Respond promptly to fire alarms and other emergency calls as part of the trained response team.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) - O'Level with at least a credit in English and Science subjects.
• Certificate in Firefighting or Fire Safety from a recognised institution in Uganda is a strong advantage.
• Basic First Aid training certification.
• Physical fitness and ability to perform demanding tasks under pressure.
• High level of discipline, alertness, and integrity.
• Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• Previous experience in an industrial or factory setting within Uganda is preferred.
