Fireman / Firefighter Job at Kakira Sugar Limited in Jinja, Uganda

Kakira Sugar Limited, one of Uganda's leading sugar manufacturers and a cornerstone of the Madhvani Group, is seeking a dedicated and physically fit Fireman to join our safety and emergency response team. This is a vital role ensuring the protection of our workforce, assets, and the surrounding community in Jinja.

In this full-time position, you will be at the forefront of our fire prevention and emergency response operations. You will work within a professional team committed to maintaining the highest safety standards at our extensive industrial facility.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
• Conduct daily checks, cleaning, and maintenance of all fire appliances, equipment, and vehicles to ensure 100% operational readiness.
• Participate actively in firefighting, rescue operations, and first-response emergency scenarios.
• Perform regular inspections, testing, and servicing of fire hydrants, extinguishers, and alarm systems across the factory and estate.
• Accurately record all operational activities, equipment checks, and incident reports in the official occurrence book.
• Assist in fire safety drills and training sessions for staff to promote a strong culture of safety awareness.
• Respond promptly to fire alarms and other emergency calls within the Kakira Sugar premises.

Requirements & Qualifications:
• Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or equivalent is essential.
• A valid certificate in Firefighting or Basic Fire Safety from a recognised institution in Uganda.
• Good physical fitness and ability to work under pressure in challenging conditions.
• Strong team player with excellent discipline and a keen sense of responsibility.
• Previous experience in an industrial or factory setting is a distinct advantage.
• Residence in or willingness to relocate to the Jinja area is preferred.
