Compassion International Uganda, a leading Christian child development NGO, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our team in Kampala. Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Manage day-to-day financial operations for Compassion's Uganda country office, ensuring accuracy and compliance.


• Prepare and monitor budgets, financial reports, and forecasts in accordance with organisational and local regulatory standards.


• Process financial transactions, including payments, receipts, and journal entries, using approved accounting software.


• Perform monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, ledgers, and donor funds.


• Support internal and external audit processes by preparing necessary documentation and implementing recommendations.


• Ensure strict compliance with Ugandan tax laws (URA), NGO regulations, and international donor requirements.


• Collaborate with programme teams to provide financial insights and support effective resource allocation.


• Maintain robust financial filing systems and ensure all records are up-to-date and accessible.

Qualifications & Experience Required

• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field from a recognised university.


• Professional accounting certification such as ACCA, CPA(U), or equivalent is highly preferred.


• Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in finance or accounting, preferably within the NGO or development sector in Uganda.


• Strong practical knowledge of Ugandan financial regulations, tax procedures, and reporting standards.


• High proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SunSystems, QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.


• Excellent analytical skills, integrity, and a keen eye for detail.


• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
