Finance Manager Job in Uganda at War Child Canada
Job Description
War Child Canada is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Manager to join our team in Uganda. This is a senior-level opportunity to lead financial operations for a respected international humanitarian organisation dedicated to protecting and educating children affected by war.
As the Finance Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity, compliance, and strategic planning of our programmes in Uganda. You will work closely with programme teams and report directly to the Country Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure strict compliance with donor regulations (e.g., Global Affairs Canada, UN, EU), Ugandan national laws, and organisational policies.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and provide ongoing financial analysis to support programme decisions.
- Manage and mentor the finance team, building capacity and ensuring accurate bookkeeping and payroll.
- Coordinate with external auditors and facilitate successful project audits.
- Implement and maintain robust internal financial controls and risk management systems.
- Prepare and present timely financial reports to the Country Director and Head Office.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a senior finance role within the NGO/development sector in Uganda.
- In-depth knowledge of major donor financial rules and regulations.
- Proven experience with accounting software and advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to humanitarian principles.
