Job Description
Cavendish University Uganda (CUU), a leading private university licensed by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), is seeking a visionary and strategic leader for the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor for Innovations & Partnerships. This is a senior executive role based at our main campus in Kampala, Uganda.
Since commencing operations in 2008, CUU has established itself as a centre of excellence, innovation, and transformation in Uganda's higher education sector. We are looking for a dynamic individual to drive our strategic partnerships and foster a culture of innovation that aligns with our vision and the needs of the Ugandan economy.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for university-wide innovation, research, and commercialisation.
- Lead the identification, cultivation, and management of strategic partnerships with local and international organisations, industries, government bodies, and other universities.
- Oversee technology transfer, intellectual property management, and the incubation of new ideas and startups.
- Foster collaborative research projects that address national and regional development challenges.
- Enhance the university's visibility and reputation as a hub for innovation and impactful partnerships in Uganda and East Africa.
- Secure funding and resources for innovation and partnership initiatives from grants, donors, and private sector collaborations.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- A PhD or equivalent terminal degree from a recognised university.
- Proven senior leadership experience (minimum 8-10 years) in a higher education institution, research organisation, or relevant industry sector.
- A strong track record in innovation management, partnership development, and research commercialisation.
- Excellent network and understanding of the Ugandan and East African innovation ecosystem.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate vision into actionable plans.
