Deputy Vice Chancellor for Innovations & Partnerships Job at Cavendish University Uganda - Kampala

Cavendish University Uganda (CUU), a leading private university licensed by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader for the executive position of Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) for Innovations & Partnerships. This is a senior leadership role based at our main campus in Kampala, Uganda.

Since commencing operations in 2008, CUU has established itself as a centre of excellence, innovation, and transformation in Uganda's higher education sector. We are looking for an individual who will drive our strategic vision forward by fostering innovation and building strategic partnerships that enhance our academic offerings and community impact.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the university's innovation agenda and partnership ecosystem.


• Develop and implement policies and programmes that promote research, innovation, and entrepreneurship among students and staff.


• Identify, establish, and manage strategic partnerships with local and international organisations, industries, government bodies, and other universities.


• Oversee the commercialisation of university research and innovations to create social and economic value.


• Lead initiatives to secure grants, funding, and collaborative projects that support the university's strategic goals.


• Represent the university at high-level forums, conferences, and meetings related to innovation and partnerships.


• Foster a culture of creativity and continuous improvement across all university departments.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

• A PhD or equivalent terminal degree from a recognised university.


• Proven senior leadership experience (minimum of 8-10 years) in a higher education institution, research organisation, or relevant industry.


• Demonstrable track record in driving innovation, research commercialisation, or partnership development.


• Strong understanding of the Ugandan and East African higher education landscape and innovation ecosystem.


• Excellent network with potential partners in the public, private, and development sectors.


• Outstanding communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.


• A strategic thinker with a proven ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
