Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) Job Opportunity at CRS Uganda


Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Deputy Chief of Party 1 (DCOP 1) to join our team in Uganda. This is a senior leadership role within a major international development project, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful change and community resilience in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:



  • Provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for project implementation, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and CRS programme quality standards.

  • Support the Chief of Party in managing all aspects of the project, including planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting.

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of project staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

  • Represent CRS and the project to key stakeholders, including government partners, local organisations, and community leaders.

  • Ensure robust monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) systems are in place and utilised effectively.

  • Oversee financial management and compliance, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to CRS and donor policies.

Requirements & Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in International Development, Public Administration, Agriculture, Economics, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant management experience in international development, preferably with large-scale, donor-funded projects (e.g., USAID, FCDO).

  • Proven experience in a Deputy Chief of Party, Senior Programme Manager, or equivalent senior leadership role.

  • Strong understanding of the Ugandan context and experience working with government systems and local partners.

  • Excellent strategic planning, financial management, and team leadership skills.

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and representation abilities.

  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of local Ugandan languages is a strong asset.
