World Vision International, a leading global humanitarian organisation, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Child Protection Officer to join our team in Gulu, Northern Uganda. Job Summary
As a Child Protection Officer, you will be at the forefront of implementing and monitoring child protection projects. Your primary mission will be to prevent and respond to child abuse, exploitation, violence, and neglect. You will work directly with communities, local government, and partners to build protective environments for children in Northern Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor child protection project activities in line with World Vision and donor standards.
- Conduct community sensitisation and awareness-raising sessions on child protection issues, rights, and services.
- Identify vulnerable children, provide case management support, and ensure appropriate referrals to specialised services.
- Build the capacity of community-based structures, including Child Protection Committees and local partners.
- Monitor, document, and report on child protection incidents and overall project progress.
- Collaborate with other sectors (like Health, Education, and Livelihoods) to mainstream child protection.
- Represent World Vision in district-level child protection coordination meetings and forums.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in child protection programming, preferably with an NGO or humanitarian agency.
- Strong understanding of child protection principles, national frameworks, and case management processes.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with communities and local government structures in Uganda.
- Excellent training, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Must be able to ride a motorcycle and willing to undertake extensive travel to remote project sites.
- Unwavering commitment to child safeguarding policies and ethical professional conduct.
