Job Description
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an experienced Economic Recovery and Development Coordinator to join our team in Uganda. This senior role focuses on leading economic empowerment programmes that support refugee and host communities across Uganda.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement economic recovery strategies for vulnerable populations
- Manage economic development projects including cash assistance, livelihoods support, and enterprise development
- Coordinate with government ministries, district local governments, and development partners
- Lead programme budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation activities
- Supervise and mentor programme staff across multiple field locations
- Develop partnerships with private sector actors and financial service providers
- Ensure programme alignment with Uganda's National Development Plan III
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Development Studies, Business Administration or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in economic recovery programming in Uganda
- Proven experience working with refugee communities and host populations
- Strong understanding of Uganda's economic landscape and development challenges
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage
