Chief Executive Officer Job Opportunity at UPRS Uganda

The Uganda Performing Right Society (UPRS) is seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Executive Officer to lead our organisation in Kampala. UPRS is a member-based not-for-profit collective management organisation mandated by Ugandan law to license music copyright usage, collect royalties, and distribute earnings to our members.

As the Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to advance UPRS's mission of protecting and promoting the rights of music creators across Uganda.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and implement strategic plans to grow UPRS's membership and revenue
• Oversee the licensing of music copyright usage across various sectors
• Manage royalty collection and distribution systems for members
• Lead and mentor a professional team including legal, licensing, accounting, and audit staff
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders in Uganda's music industry
• Ensure compliance with Ugandan copyright laws and regulations
• Represent UPRS at national and international forums

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, or related field (Master's preferred)
• Minimum 10 years of senior management experience in Uganda
• Proven track record in strategic leadership and organisational development
• Strong understanding of copyright law and the creative industry in Uganda
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience in royalty collection or intellectual property management is advantageous
