Job Description
The Ministry of Public Service Uganda is seeking a qualified Archivist U4 to join our records management team. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals passionate about preserving Uganda's public service documentation and historical records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organise, classify, and catalogue government documents and records
- Develop and implement efficient archival systems and procedures
- Preserve and conserve historical documents and public service records
- Digitise physical records for easy access and long-term preservation
- Provide reference services to ministry staff and authorised researchers
- Ensure compliance with Uganda's public records management policies
- Maintain security and confidentiality of sensitive government documents
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science, Records Management, or related field
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in archives or records management
- Knowledge of Ugandan public service record-keeping standards
- Proficiency in archival management software and digital preservation tools
- Strong organisational and attention-to-detail skills
- Understanding of Uganda's Access to Information Act and data protection laws
