Yalelo Uganda, a leading aquaculture and fish farming enterprise, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Water Quality Technician to join our hatchery operations in Butembe-Buikwe. This is an excellent full-time opportunity for professionals passionate about aquaculture, environmental science, and ensuring sustainable fish production in Uganda.

About the Role

As a Water Quality Technician at Yalelo Uganda, you will play a critical role in maintaining optimal water conditions for our hatchery operations. You will be responsible for monitoring, testing, and managing water quality parameters to ensure the health and growth of our fish stock, directly contributing to Uganda's growing aquaculture sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily water quality testing and analysis for parameters including pH, dissolved oxygen, ammonia, nitrites, and temperature
• Monitor and maintain water treatment systems and filtration equipment
• Record and analyse water quality data, preparing regular reports for management
• Implement corrective actions when water parameters fall outside optimal ranges
• Collaborate with hatchery team to ensure optimal fish health and production
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper calibration
• Follow strict biosecurity and safety protocols in all operations
• Assist in training other team members on water quality management practices

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field from a recognised Ugandan institution
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in water quality management, preferably in aquaculture or hatchery operations
• Practical knowledge of water testing equipment and laboratory procedures
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Willingness to work in Butembe-Buikwe location
• Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting
