Job Description
Kijani Forestry, a leading sustainable forestry company in Uganda, is seeking a dedicated Systems and Research Associate to join our team in Gulu. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to contribute to impactful environmental and data-driven projects in Northern Uganda.
About the Role:
As a Systems and Research Associate, you will play a crucial role in managing our operational systems and conducting vital research to support sustainable forestry initiatives. You will work at the intersection of technology, data analysis, and environmental conservation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain organisational data systems and databases.
- Conduct field and desk research to support forestry and agricultural projects.
- Analyse data to generate insights for operational improvement and reporting.
- Support the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with field teams in Gulu and surrounding areas to ensure data accuracy.
- Assist in the development of research methodologies and data collection tools.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in data management, research, or systems administration.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, R, or similar).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of the Gulu/Northern Uganda context is a strong advantage.
- Passion for sustainable development, forestry, and environmental conservation.
