Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Airworthiness Inspector (SAWI) – Avionics to join our dedicated team in Entebbe. This is a senior-level opportunity to play a critical role in ensuring the safety and regulatory compliance of Uganda's civil aviation sector, in line with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.

As the national body responsible for regulating civil aviation and managing Entebbe International Airport and 13 other aerodromes, UCAA offers a stable and prestigious work environment. We are looking for Ugandan professionals with impeccable integrity and a strong commitment to aviation safety.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:



  • Conduct inspections, surveillance, and certification of aircraft avionics and electrical systems to ensure airworthiness.

  • Review and approve maintenance data, modifications, and repairs related to aircraft avionics.

  • Ensure all aviation activities and organisations comply with UCAA regulations and ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).

  • Investigate reported defects, incidents, or accidents involving aircraft avionics systems.

  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to licensed aircraft maintenance engineers and organisations.

  • Participate in the development and amendment of national aviation safety regulations.

  • Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records of all inspections and findings.

Requirements & Qualifications:



  • A Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Avionics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from a recognised institution. A Master's degree will be an added advantage.

  • Must hold or be eligible for a valid Uganda Civil Aviation Authority Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's Licence (AMEL) with relevant avionics ratings (Category X).

  • Substantial post-licencing experience (typically 8+ years) in aircraft avionics maintenance, inspection, and certification, preferably in a regulatory environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of ICAO Annexes, Ugandan Civil Aviation Regulations, and international airworthiness standards.

  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
