Psychiatrist Job Vacancy at WelcometoSSM Health Centre, Eastern Region Uganda

WelcometoSSM Health Centre, a growing healthcare provider in Eastern Region Uganda, is seeking a qualified and compassionate Psychiatrist to join our dedicated medical team. About the Role:
As a Psychiatrist at WelcometoSSM Health Centre, you will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with mental, emotional, and behavioural disorders. You will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive, patient-centred care in our Eastern Region facility.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
* Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments for new and existing patients.
* Develop, implement, and monitor individualised treatment plans, including psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy.
* Provide crisis intervention and management for patients experiencing acute psychiatric episodes.
* Collaborate with psychologists, clinical officers, nurses, and social workers within a multidisciplinary team.
* Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient medical records.
* Participate in community mental health outreach and education programmes to reduce stigma.
* Adhere to the professional ethics and standards set by the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.

Requirements & Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from a recognised institution.
* Master of Medicine in Psychiatry (MMed Psychiatry) or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
* Full registration and a valid annual practicing license from the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
* Proven experience in clinical psychiatry; experience in a community health setting is an added advantage.
* Strong diagnostic skills and proficiency in evidence-based treatment modalities.
* Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
* Commitment to serving the community in the Eastern Region of Uganda.
