Job Description
Join the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) in Entebbe as a Laboratory Technologist specialising in Research & Development for reagent production. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge vaccine research within the CEPI-UVRI Centralised Laboratory Network, the largest global network of harmonised laboratories providing standardised immunoassay testing.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and produce biological reagents, particularly antigens for humoral immune assays
• Conduct research and development activities in UVRI's Department of Immunology
• Perform specialised laboratory tests including ELISA, ELISpot, and Virus Neutralisation Tests (VNT)
• Support clinical trial activities and outbreak preparedness initiatives
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure quality control standards
• Collaborate with senior laboratory technologists and research teams
• Document experimental procedures and results accurately
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biomedical Sciences, or related field
• Valid practicing license from Allied Health Professionals Council Uganda
• Minimum 2 years experience in laboratory research and development
• Strong knowledge of immunoassay techniques and reagent production
• Experience with ELISA, ELISpot, or similar laboratory methodologies
• Excellent attention to detail and quality assurance practices
• Ability to work in a high-containment laboratory environment
