Quality Chemical Industries Limited (QCIL), a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in Uganda, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Procurement Officer to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for managing the company's procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective sourcing of quality materials and services while maintaining strong vendor relationships.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Maintain and manage the company's vendor/supplier database and relationships.
- Support procurement planning and contract management in line with company policies.
- Prepare and issue Requests for Proposal (RFP), Quotations (RFQ), and Invitations to Bid.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure favourable terms and pricing for the company.
- Evaluate bids, quotations, and proposals to make sound recommendations.
- Raise purchase orders for approved suppliers and follow the Delegation of Authority.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Ensure systematic filing and safe custody of all procurement records.
- Liaise with the finance department to facilitate timely vendor payments.
- Conduct regular supplier evaluations based on compliance, delivery, and quality.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Logistics, or a related field is mandatory.
- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field is a strong added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a procurement function.
- A background in Engineering or manufacturing procurement is beneficial.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and SAP is essential.
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal skills, and adherence to cGMP and Quality Management Systems.
- Must be a self-starter, flexible, and able to work well under pressure.
- Observant, creative, and innovative mindset aligned with business needs.
