Part-Time Lab Assistant Job Opportunity in Uganda

St. Joseph's General Hospital Elliot Lake is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to join our medical team on a part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about healthcare and laboratory sciences to contribute to quality patient care in Uganda's Central Region.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist laboratory technologists and technicians with routine diagnostic procedures
• Prepare and process patient samples for analysis following established protocols
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper cleaning and sterilisation
• Manage laboratory inventory and supplies, including ordering and stock control
• Ensure proper labelling, storage, and disposal of biological specimens
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of laboratory activities
• Adhere to all hospital safety standards and infection control procedures
• Provide support in various hospital departments as needed

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Certificate or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field from a recognised institution
• Valid practicing license from Allied Health Professionals Council Uganda
• Previous experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting is advantageous
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions
• Basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping
• Excellent organisational and time management abilities
• Good communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages is beneficial
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays when required
