Job Description

NIC General Insurance Company, a leading insurance provider in Uganda and a subsidiary of NIC Holdings Limited, is seeking a dedicated and organised Office Secretary to join our Mukono branch. This is an excellent opportunity to build a career with a reputable financial institution in Uganda's insurance sector.

As an Office Secretary at NIC General, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth daily operations of our Mukono office. You will be the first point of contact for clients and visitors, providing professional administrative support to our team.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Manage front desk operations, including greeting visitors, answering phone calls, and directing inquiries.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including mail, emails, and internal memos.
  • Maintain an efficient filing system for both physical and electronic documents.
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and manage calendars for branch staff.
  • Prepare and format reports, letters, and other documents as required.
  • Assist with basic data entry and record-keeping to support office administration.
  • Manage office supplies inventory and place orders when necessary.
  • Provide general clerical support to ensure the office runs efficiently.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent; a diploma in Secretarial Studies, Office Management, or a related field is a strong advantage.
  • Proven experience as an office secretary, receptionist, or similar administrative role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English and Luganda.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise work.
  • Professional appearance and a courteous, customer-focused attitude.
  • Knowledge of the Mukono area and local community is beneficial.
