Licensing Officer (U4 Scale) Job at Ministry of Works and Transport Uganda

The Ministry of Works and Transport (Uganda) is recruiting a qualified and dedicated Licensing Officer at the U4 scale. This is a critical public service role within the government of Uganda, responsible for managing and regulating transport-related licences to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency on Uganda's roads and transport networks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Process and issue various transport and works-related licences, permits, and certifications in accordance with Ugandan laws and regulations.
• Verify applicant documentation and ensure all requirements are met before approval.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic and physical records of all licensing transactions.
• Provide clear information and guidance to the public and stakeholders on licensing procedures, fees, and requirements.
• Liaise with other government departments and agencies to ensure coordinated service delivery.
• Support the implementation and adherence to national transport policies and standards.
• Prepare routine reports on licensing activities for management review.

Requirements and Qualifications:
• A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Law, Business Administration, Transport Management, or a related field from a recognised institution.
• Must be a Ugandan citizen.
• Strong understanding of public service procedures and Ugandan transport regulations is an advantage.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and proficiency in computer applications.
• Previous experience in a regulatory, clerical, or customer service role within the Ugandan public sector is desirable.
