Licensing Officer (U4 Scale) Job at Ministry of Works and Transport Uganda
Job Description
The Ministry of Works and Transport (Uganda) is recruiting a qualified and dedicated Licensing Officer at the U4 scale. This is a critical public service role within the government of Uganda, responsible for managing and regulating transport-related licences to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency on Uganda's roads and transport networks.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
β’ Process and issue various transport and works-related licences, permits, and certifications in accordance with Ugandan laws and regulations.
β’ Verify applicant documentation and ensure all requirements are met before approval.
β’ Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic and physical records of all licensing transactions.
β’ Provide clear information and guidance to the public and stakeholders on licensing procedures, fees, and requirements.
β’ Liaise with other government departments and agencies to ensure coordinated service delivery.
β’ Support the implementation and adherence to national transport policies and standards.
β’ Prepare routine reports on licensing activities for management review.
Requirements and Qualifications:
β’ A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Law, Business Administration, Transport Management, or a related field from a recognised institution.
β’ Must be a Ugandan citizen.
β’ Strong understanding of public service procedures and Ugandan transport regulations is an advantage.
β’ Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
β’ High level of integrity, attention to detail, and proficiency in computer applications.
β’ Previous experience in a regulatory, clerical, or customer service role within the Ugandan public sector is desirable.
