Lake Operations Supervisor Job at Yalelo Uganda in Butembe-Buikwe

Yalelo Uganda, a leader in aquaculture and sustainable fish farming, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lake Operations Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Butembe-Buikwe. This is a full-time, mid-level position perfect for a professional passionate about Uganda's aquaculture sector and skilled in managing on-water operations.

About the Role:
As a Lake Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities on Lake Victoria, ensuring efficient, safe, and sustainable operations. You will play a critical role in maintaining our high standards of fish farming and production, directly contributing to food security and economic growth in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate all daily lake-based farming and operational activities.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all staff and equipment on the water.
• Monitor fish health, feeding schedules, and environmental conditions to optimise production.
• Lead, train, and motivate a team of lake operations staff.
• Maintain accurate records of stock, feed, equipment, and daily production reports.
• Coordinate logistics between lake operations and onshore processing units.
• Implement and enforce biosecurity and environmental sustainability measures.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Proven experience (3+ years) in a supervisory role, preferably in aquaculture, fisheries, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of lake or marine operations and safety management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a challenging outdoor environment and adapt to variable weather conditions.
• A diploma or degree in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Agriculture, or a related field is a strong advantage.
• A valid boat operator's license or similar certification is highly desirable.
