About the Role

As a Laboratory Technologist at our Gulu facility, you will play a critical role in patient care by ensuring accurate and timely diagnostic testing. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the laboratory department, following strict standard operating procedures to deliver reliable results that support effective treatment decisions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out the day-to-day operational running of the laboratory department
• Identify optimal methods for specimen collection and retrieval
• Prepare various specimens for laboratory testing according to established protocols
• Perform a range of laboratory testing procedures with precision and accuracy
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure quality control
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper calibration
• Deliver accurate test reports efficiently to support clinical decisions
• Maintain proper documentation and records of all tests performed
• Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures in the laboratory
• Collaborate with medical staff to ensure coordinated patient care

Requirements and Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognised institution
• Valid practicing license from the Allied Health Professionals Council of Uganda
• Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a clinical laboratory setting
• Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment, and safety protocols
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Computer literacy for maintaining digital records
