IT Support Specialist Job in Kampala - Equity Group Holdings

Equity Group Holdings, a leading financial services institution in Uganda, is seeking a skilled and dedicated IT Support Specialist to join our dynamic team in Kampala. This is an excellent opportunity for a technical professional to provide essential support for our hardware, software, and network systems, ensuring seamless operations across our branches.

As an IT Support Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for resolving technical issues, maintaining system integrity, and supporting our staff with their daily technology needs. You will play a crucial role in upholding our commitment to digital innovation and excellent customer service in the Ugandan market.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide first-level and second-level technical support for hardware (desktops, laptops, printers) and software (operating systems, banking applications, MS Office).
• Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues, including LAN and WAN configurations relevant to Uganda's infrastructure.
• Perform routine system maintenance, updates, and backups to ensure optimal performance and data security.
• Assist in implementing basic cybersecurity measures and educate users on safe computing practices.
• Set up and configure new workstations and equipment for staff.
• Provide user training and create simple guides to improve digital literacy within the organisation.
• Document all support requests, solutions, and maintain an up-to-date IT asset register.
• Collaborate with the broader IT team on projects and system upgrades.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

• A Diploma or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field from a recognised institution.
• Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in an IT support or helpdesk role, preferably within the financial services sector in Uganda.
• Practical knowledge of computer networking principles, TCP/IP, and common network devices.
• Understanding of fundamental cybersecurity concepts and best practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
• Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills.
• Professional certifications like CompTIA A+ or Network+ will be an added advantage.
